Reflecting

What can I say...

After taking a step back and reviewing my artistic life, I have made a few revelations and changes. One of the big changes is that a lot of my newer photo's, as Alpha_DSF had pointed out, don't really have as much meaning behind them as they used to. I have changed this accordingly.
Also, I have seen that my comments have steadily gotten more and more generic for each upload. I have thus begun writing Prose to go with each shot. Thus far, it has worked very well...
Another big thing I saw was that I was beginning to get a bit cockywith myself. Almost to the point of gloating. I have tried to change that as well...
Overall, You could say that I have become a new person since the start of the New Year; And to be honest, I like the new Reeses2150. As do many others. I have nothing else to say about how I have changed, as you may all simply observe for yourselves...

Skinning News:
I'm finally retiring from WMP skinning. After a good run, I think it's about time that I left WMP skinning, at least temporarily. As many have noticed, if they followed my WMP skins, that I have slowly but surely moved from graphical element to the coding element, and I've seen that a lot of people are into WMP skins BECAUSE of the graphical aspect. So, after Project GSI, I think that I'm going to stop making WMp skins. I will still act as a consultant, answering any and all questions anyone has about WMP skinning; and if the opperotunity arises, you may see a collab skin from mye and someone else. But for now at least, I will not make any more skins on my own.

(I have officially Ran out of Quotes for the week. So, just to let people now this...)

New Years EVOLUTON

Everyone tries to make new years resolutions, I don't. I just change myself a bit each year, instead of making promises to better myself, I just try new things out. That's just what I do...

Either way, this entry is LONG overdue, and so I have to fill you in on everything that's happened. First, the reasons why I have not posted anything in the past 11 days is because I have been away from a comp with good internet acess, I have been playing with the christmas gifts I have gotten, My parents are doing the yearly relatives visitaions, and I've been busy installing a NEW COMP (Finally, I'll talk more about it later...). So basically, I haven't had the chance, but I have not stopped my photography.

In photography, I've reflected upon my style, and looked at a few of thew more famous photographers. What I have realized is that the most well known, well recieved, and best type of photography is Black and White Conceptual photography. You know that stuff, Close ups of things like faucets and crap. I'm not going to change my style in any way, but I'm going to try taking a few of the classic B&W shots, to see if I'd be any good at it...

Completely Random and Generic Updates:
New hair style. No longer do I just brush my hair back. I'll upload a shot sometime soon.

X-Mas gifts:
New Comp.
Need For Speed Underground 2 for GC.
Magnetic dartboard, don't ask...
and clothing.

NEW COMP:
Compaq Persario.
2.5 Ghz processor.
CDRW.
Embedded ports for USB, Flash, SD, and any 0oyther type of memory card you can think of.
Firewire enabled. USB 2.0
And to top it all OFF!!! a 56k modem...

I've begun working on my site. Reeses2150 Online . as part of my NYE. I'm currently working from scratch to make a basic gallery. Right now I've got 2 temporary "versions" online. Just link to them from the main page. Also, I haven't stoopped my photography at all, I've got at least a dozen shot's built up that I'm going to upload the next chance I get.
Besides photography, I'm making final touches on project GSI. Seriously, I'm going to upload it this time. Just wait.

Trying to remain Humble...

Wow. since the last entry, I've uploaded 2 batches of photo's (about 16 shots alltogether), and I've literally gotten at least a dozen comments and just as many fav's. I'm trying to stay humble, but to be honest, I can't help but feel almighty and powerful. Either way, I've been getting better and better, and I don't think I'm ever going to really stop. I shall try my best not to become egotistical though.

To let everyone know ahead of time, On the 19th, I went out with my camera and tripod and finally went on a "photo-walk". No destination of purpose other than to find picture opperotunities and get them. I'll tell you now, I took easily over 160 shots, and I'm probably going to upload at least a few dozen of them. I started off at my house, went down to west avenue for a minute, then went down to the waterfront. If anyone knows the Sewaren area, they know it's right next to the river. So I go down, and I walk down the entire length from the first dock (which is old and abandoned) all the way to the second dock (which is an active public area). Then, I went back down West Ave, and went back home. It was a great "experiance", and I got a lot out of it, both in photo's and in techniques. I'll say now, that a lot of the shot's I took on the second dock look a lot like Roninsindre's [link] .

Besides photography, I, for no apparent reason, recently got back to work on project GSI. For those who don't remember, GSI was a Windowsd Media Player skin with embedded games. I started work on it again, and I think I might finish it this time...

PHOTOGRAPHY!!!

Basically, that's the only way to describe this week.
First off, yes the 10th was my B-day, I am 17 now. But to be honest, I could care less, and I know a lot of you out there could to...

Anyways, I took a few lessons from my father on photography. He taught me a few tricks with the manual settings, and gave a me a few tips that I hadn't come up with yet on my own. Hopefully, they will help me get better quality shots. By quality, I mean "Not Grainy".

Also, on the 13th, I was really "In The Mood" for photography, and I probably took about 70-80 shots withing a 6 hour period. I've uploaded one of them, with a few older ones. But tomorrow (12/15/04) Expect at least 7-a dozen shot's to be uploaded.

Finally...

On the 29th of Nov, I had my camera returned to my by my father. For once, he held to his word. I was still not allowed to bring it to school with me.

On the 2nd, I ranted on photography. "Photography. Why all the contravoursey?" [link] .

On the 3rd, the weekend began, and I finally had the opperotunity to take shotsof ANY sort. I got a couple good shots on the 4th.

On the 6th (today), My father finally got around to reason, and we struck a deal. I can bring my camera to school and back, but I need to keep it in my backpack during class, hence the optomism. To let everyone know, that's exactly what I've been suggesting to them since the beginning. >_>...

Still No Camera

It has been more than 10 days.

I have been suffering through some withdrawl, but not anything really serious.

To keep myself occupied during this period, I have been doing some WMP skinning, which I have not done in a LONG time. I still haven't lost any of my coding abilities there though, and I will soon upload the WMP skin I made.
Also, to keep myself from losing any skills in Photography, I have been going through my archives and editing the good shot's that I haven't uploaded. I'm surprised at how many great shots I skipped over and never uploaded.

Either way, supposedly I am going to get my camera back in the next few days, but knowing my parents, I doubt that to be true.

New skin is just about done and I will upload it. Called "Sonic Matrix", it's a quick skin I made when I was bored, and it turned into something worthy of an upload.

My Parents Shall Be My Demise...

On 11/16/04 I took a personal day off from school. The first I have taken in over 1.5 years, and only the second one I have EVER taken. I took the day off because I needed to relax for a day, as there was too much tension in school (not from work, but from my Camera. Some [IE: only 1] of the teachers noticed me taking pictures in/around class, and complained to the vice-principal. This then caused some insecurity, confusion, and general tension concerning my Camera.) and at home (My Parents did not want me to take my camera to school every day due to the aforementioned. FYI: Literally 9 out of every 10 shots I take are taken on the way to school, around school, or on the way back from school.) as well as the fact that I had just picked up my Pre-Order of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes...
Basically, because My sister is a B, she ratted on me and my parents TOOK AWAY MY CAMERA (Which I payed for 100%. $300.00) for 2WEEKS!!!!
I'm not sure about everyone else, but honestly, I think that's really Fucked up. Especially due to the fact that they KNOW that photography is my way of life/a part of my life/one of the only things that I'm good at, that gets me recognition, and is the ONE THING that allows me to express my creativity.

Since My camera is gone for the next 2 weeks, these will be the last NEW shots for a while. Also, due to the "Punishment", I have pulled up WMP skinning for the moment. I am working on another new skin (not GSI), codenamed "MOBIUS". Done completely in MS Paint. Stay tuned.
